Roxci Rhodes, (yes, her real name), was born the 7th of eight children in California's Silicon Valley. In a very large family, competition was a matter of survival. Her father was career navy. From him, she gained focus, mental toughness, and the self confidence to display her accomplishments proudly. As Roxci says,”It's not bragging if it's true”. She describes her mother as “the best of June Cleaver and Mae West”. From her, Roxci gained her softer nurturing side and her sassy and flirty sides as well. She was very athletic as a child and held several county and state records for track events, including high jump, long jump and sprint. She learned to take care of her health, body and mind. Health and fitness became a strong undercurrent in her life.

Roxci's life evolved along more traditional lines however. She worked her way through nursing school and has earned two other college degrees. She eventually turned her nursing background, her business education and her competitive nature into a successful healthcare consulting business. But that's where “traditional” ends. She was born to play No-Limit Hold'em. In 2004 she was among the top ten female players in Card Player's Player of the Year standings with a cash finish in the WPT Ultimatebet.com Poker Classic, an 11 th place finish overall in the Plaza Ultimate Poker Challenge, and a first place “chopped pot” finish in the $1000 No-limit Hold'em event at the Mirage Poker Showdown among her credits. |
